Internet is one place which can truly be called the gold mine of knowledge and information. Everyday thousands of websites are uploaded on the internet. With this high rate of growth internet’s knowledge reservoir is expanding widely. Some people come, share, or take a piece of information form internet. Others just come, sign in to a public community, visit some forums, leave a comment, and sign off. Everyone is at liberty to do whatever they want to do on the internet as there are no regulations.
No Regulations? Really?
Yes, that is right. In general, there aren’t any regulatory committees or organizations which form the rules and regulations for internet. People are free to use internet they want. However, every website does have some terms of use & privacy and the users are bound to follow them. These regulations are designed by the company itself and may be different from other websites’ regulations.

But this liberty could result in serious crimes over the internet as well. So, many law enforcement agencies felt he need of keeping an eye on the activities on the internet. US was the first to install such a system on its countries’ computers. These systems were named Carnivore initially and were installed at the ISPs to spy on what’s coming in and what’s coming out from the computers of their country for surveillance purposes.
Also, there’s Federal Communication Commission (FCC) which handles the legal issues related to internet, ISPs, and the internet users in United States. Every country has a department which is responsible for regulating the use of internet in their country.
But there is no regulation authority which passes instructions to the website owners about the design and type of their website/web content.
